AIR’s Four Pillars

Making a difference in the kitchen, at the table, and in the community.

OUR COLLECTIVE VOICE

AIR acts as a representative voice for restaurant owners and employees to make sure the people who keep Asheville’s spirit alive are not just heard but listened to as well.

In order to achieve this, AIR actively collaborates with and participates in conversations with local government bodies such as the ABC Commission, County Manager’s Office, the City of Asheville, the Asheville Downtown Association, Asheville Arts Council, and the Chamber of Commerce.

AIR seeks to advocate for its members, to help hear the worries and concerns of our community and do anything we can to help.

THE US AND WE OF IT

Providing opportunities even in times of hardship is one of AIR’s biggest goals.

In collaboration with thoroughly vetted partners, AIR offers relief programs for restaurant employees in need of financial support.

AIR’s job board is also constantly up-to-date, featuring highly competitive work opportunities that reflect the respect and appreciation AIR restaurant members have for their staff and community.

COLLABORATIVE STRENGTH

AIR’s membership creates a collective bargaining voice for independent restaurants of Buncombe county, and our strength lies in our numbers. Together, we ensure access to better employer benefits such as healthcare.

AIR also keeps the community connected. Through our monthly and weekly newsletters, AIRfare & AIRmail respectively, we celebrate industry achievements, spread local restaurant news, and keep our community updated and informed.

MOVING FORWARD

Whether it be a partnership with a local accredited university to make master’s degrees more accessible for AIR staff members, or organizing workshops to teach better business practices on all levels of restaurant ownership, AIR strives to maintain progress through the use of educational opportunities for all of its members.

AIR also helps alleviate the financial burden of necessary food and drink safety training by collaborating with Goodwill Industries in order to offer members discounts.
